I think there will have to be an entirely new Party in order for things to return to what you remember. The current Conservatives are nothing like that and I don't believe they ever will be. That Party has morphed into something entirely different and no part of it is good.
What we have is a governments pretending to support all, yet abandoning the most vulnerable. I have an acquaintance who is missing his right leg below the knee yet yearly is asked if his disability is less? His reply is I can't grow a new leg.
Many severely disabled have been that way since birth and to expect work or any semblance of life which non disabled would call normal is not possible. And as a society we have a responsibility to provide and protect and the UCP for all its religious zeal has decided to penalize those who can least afford it and that is unforgivable.
They created MAID to get rid of disabled ppl. I’m not kidding and the plan is to cut back on the disabled and they won’t want to be a burden so they will chose MAID it’s already happening there is already huge numbers. I talked to a social worker and senior police officer and I saw videos on how the powers that be want us gone. It’s already happening sadly. Nobody can afford to live especially the disabled and we do not want to be a burden on our families.
MAID existed in Europe long before Canada ever had MAID. Many Canadians went abroad to use the services. Canadians wanted MAID so trips abroad were not required so they could have their loved ones with them. There are assessments required to access MAID. Two doctors need to sign off. As a cancer survivor it my cancer would have been terminal, I would use MAID. We Canadians wanted access to MAID versus having to travel to Switzerland.
